Have You Ever Found Yourself Really Not Liking Someone Here?
by minimus ini've been on this board for years.
99% of the posters here i do not personally know.
a few, maybe not so much...lol..... do posters here get you upset to the point that you really don't like them?

I get irritated with those who trivialize the strength it takes to leave, to really untangle yourself from the mess of a cult JWs are.
Also the ones who victim blame the abused children for their abuse. Or who deny that it goes on.
Other than that, I can take my lumps for my beliefs and it's fun to debate, but it has no efffect in real life.

Why does this forum tolerate Cold steele and his mormonism beliefs ? Who`s next ?
by smiddy ini thought this forum was for people who were ex jw`s and pro jw`s and the like to debate ,discuss and reasonably talk about our differences ,and sometimes drift off into politics world events and whatever.. however over a period of time i have come across cold steel `s many posts which are nothing more than promoting his mormon religions point of view./beliefs what has that got to do with jehovahs witnesses and the concerns many have with the jw religion.?.
it seems to me he is using this forum to promote his religion and is getting away with it over a long period of time.. how long before other cult religions see this as a springboard for promoting their own religion such as .
sda`s ,christian scientists , christadelphians ,beroean bible students ,etc.etc.. where will it end if he is able to keep doing this ?.

I have had the pleasure of dealing with Mormons in real life. I have never met a more arrogant group of people. It is very hard for the chosen ones of God to deal with non-believers. In a professional setting, they will tell lies, maliciously. And please do not say it's one or two, because I have seen it many times.
I have also seen the way they have treated a young girl (20) who is gay. Shunning is real within their cult too. And emotional blackmail.
Misogyny is rampant. The church encourages young girls to go to college to find a husband. Then they have child after child, because the more children they have the better planet they get in the afterlife. They are all promised their own planet to rule, some of them think their rulership starts now.

I appreciate "our" free speech.
by The Rebel ini had given serious consideration too leaving the board.
i rationalised my views on " muslims" we're not held by the majority so i should leave.
but this would have been wrong thinking, instead i should appreciate the platform i was given to debate with free speech.

Why does not agreeing = being rude? Since leaving the Watchtower cult, I don't like being around people that all believe the same things. It inhibits growth and reflection. It allows you to become stagnate in your beliefs. In my opinion, it is better to be around people who challenge your beliefs. It makes me consider and evaluate my current beliefs. As JWs we never had that option, and I am thankful for that freedom, and the freedom to change my beliefs as new information comes along.

It's seriously not as one sided as some are making it out to be. The liberals call the conservatives names, the conservatives call the liberals names. Lots of people here don't agree with my views. It doesn't make them stupid or me narrow minded. We just think different things. And since nobody on this board has any effect on my real life, I don't see why people get so bent out of shape over differences of opinion.

What is the most bizarre counsel you received as a JW, from a JW?
by Funchback inthere were many addressed to me.
for example, i once had a sister tell me i was gambling because i liked playing skill crane (the machine where you have to try to pick up prizes like stuffed animals) at the arcade.
i then fired back a her: "you saw the r-rated movie 'backdraft.

One of the older single sisters once complained to the elders that I was too thin and obviously anorexic. So they talked to my father (also an elder). He laughed and she eats everything in sight. This same sister cornered me in the bathroom at the hall about my "issue". I got mad and told her "I am 5'8" and weigh 135lbs, what do you want me to do, get fat?" She said I was a liar, so I had to go in the apartment in the hall that had a scale and get on it to settle it once and for all. ...........30 years later I wish I was still 135lbs, maybe I should send her an update. :-)

From what I have seen with my family it's the same crap - they are just getting better at hiding it.

Family dynamics and cult influence
by longgone inthe following incident is nothing unusual to any jw, but i wanted to add on to the list of reasons to never join, and sympathize with those stuck in it, and again a reminder that you can never get away from the mayhem when you have family still in.
in a recent conversation with my jw sister who i love very much, i was reminded how complex and abnormal relationships can become within a jehovah's witness family.families relationships can be difficult with any religion or none, but once we throw in the various labels and restrictions within the jw family it becomes really cultish.
no one outside it could begin to understand.

Agreed, it is all so silly. I moved far away from my family and it's really for the best. My parents do speak to me because I was never DF but they shun their grandchildren who are DF. You can't ever keep track of all the self imposed rules.
